Description |
Cow bell made from cross-sectional piece of bamboo cane that is shallowly carved on exterior with geometric designs which are then rubbed with white lime; Two small holes have been cut in the center of the sides of bamboo, opposite each other, and then a line cut from them to the bottom edge which is open; Pair of two-piece carved and hinged wooden clappers are attached to upper sides of bell by a cordage loop; When the bell is swung, the clappers strike the exterior of the bell producing a light sound by which the cattle can be tracked. This style of cow bell is originally from Thailand and the Shan State of Myanmar (Burma). |
