Description Adze made from two pieces of wood hafted together natural split plant fiber woven together with commercial plastic binding; Handle is a solid piece of smooth, unadorned wood with a slightly perceptible arch; Blade is a long piece of wood carved in a pyramid shape; Each side of the pyramid has a raised band running its length, formed by carving away the outer corners of the pyramid; Each band is carved into a row of parallelograms and is flanked by four pairs of triangular trapezoids the external points of which form the corners of the blade’s pyramid; The hollowed space between the trapezoids is colored a bright red; The long carved bands on the blade have blue pigment on the raised designs and lime rubbed into the hollows between; There is some indication that the trapezoid designs had been colored black and the tip may have been rubbed with lime, but most all of the pigmentation has worn off, save the bright red; The tip of the blade is devoid of decoration but whittled down to a narrow point and separated visually from the length of the blade by a thick border of woven yellow commercial plastic binding.
