Description | Deep cylindrical basket that is slightly ovoid in shape; Vertical sides are fashioned from a single piece of birch bark with the exterior surface facing outward and lashed with willow root to a separate piece of bark to form the base; Two separate bark strips are lashed to the exterior of the rim for additional support and secured with a bundle of whole willow shoots that are coil-wrapped with willow roots; Five faceted turquoise-colored glass beads are sewn into the coil-wrapping along the rim; Short buckskin carrying strap is threaded through rim bundle at two points opposite each other. | |
