Description Small basket with square base, slightly flared sides, and wide round mouth; Basket is essentially made from a single sheet of birch bark that has been trimmed and folded to shape, with the overlapping joins lashed together with willow roots; Natural white exterior of bark faces outward; Separate narrow strip of bark encircles exterior rim of basket for additional support and is secured with a split rod that encircles exterior of rim and another one that encircles the interior rim and together are coiled wrapped into a bundle with willow roots; Short native-tanned leather carrying strap is threaded through rim at two points opposite each other.
