Kwikwilyaka (mocking katsina); 3- Dimensional carved figure in standing position, holding a long white staff in the left hand and a carved gourd rattle (blue with a white handle) in the right; Figure’s body is brown with white paint brushed over; He wears a full head mask that is painted mostly black, with white stripes in sets of three on the forehead, cheeks, and right and left sides of the back of the mask; The mask has black and white striped protruding nose and eyes and a black and white striped collar; Two painted red ears protrude from the sides of the mask; Bark fibers are attached to the top and back of the head; The figure also wears a brown leather vest; His carved pants are light blue with darker blue details and appear to be cuffed above the knee; He wears a carved sash over his right hip that is painted white with a blue, black, and red pattern; His shoes are also carved and painted red with white soles; He stands on both feet with slightly bent knees, on a small, circular wooden base; An associated paper tag reads “Kwikwilyaka - Mocking; As a clown he has very little personality of his own, but fastens like a leech onto any activity that catches his eye!†|
