Description Round basket with flat base and vertical sides; Center of base of basket and lower 2/3 of sides are woven in plain twining technique, while outermost portion of base and final 2 cm below rim on sides are woven in alternating rows of plain twining and simple plaiting techniques; Single row of 3-strand twining is used at junction of base and sides; Warp material and wet material is spruce roots; Basket probably had fitted lid originally; Designs are woven of dyed spruce root in plain twining and of undyed bear grass leaves in false embroidery technique, and consist of concentric bands (3 blue-gray and 1 red) on the base, woven of dyed spruce root in a beading technique, a variation of plain twining in which 1 of the 2 weft fibers is a different color; Designs on sides of basket consist of a wide blue-gray band with lower red edge that encircles mid-section of basket, woven of dyed spruce roots in plain twining technique; Overlaying the blue-gray band is a rectilinear meander pattern, woven of undyed bear grass in false embroidery technique, resulting in a reciprocating pattern of blue-gray "T" shapes.
