Description | Small round basket with flat base and vertical sides; Warp material is cedar bark and weft material is rye grass stems; Base start of basket is plaited cedar bark slats which are then split to form numerous warps that are woven together in plain twining technique; Warps are bent over at rim and bound into final row of twining; Decorative elements are woven in ribbon beading technique and consist of strips of dyed green or purple bear grass leaves that are positioned vertically at regular intervals around exterior sides of basket and a single strip of bear grass leaves that encircles upper sides just below rim. | |
