Description | Deep cylindrical basket with flat base and vertical sides, woven almost entirely in closed plain twining: Single row approx. 1 cm below rim is woven in 3-strand twining, and base is woven in alternating sections of closed and open plain twining, the latter having crossed warps; Warp and weft material is rye grass stems; Designs are woven of dyed green (?) rye grass stems and consist of two parallel bands that encircle mid-section of sides of basket; Matching round lid with knob handle is woven in similar technique with single row of 3-strand twining along shoulder and along outer edge of knob handle; Designs on lid consist of two parallel bands of dyed green weft that encircle shoulder of lid and a single similar band that encircles top of lid. | |
