Description Deep round basket with flat base and vertical sides, woven entirely in closed plain twining, except for 5 decorative rows of exposed, crossed warps on base and one additional row each near top and bottom of sides; Warp and weft material is rye grass stems; Designs are woven of silk yarns in false embroidery technique and consist of 8 vertical columns of stacked diamonds (some of them quartered or truncated) in colors of pink, gold, red, green, light and dark blue, and purple, and framed above and below by one pink and two red parallel lines; Matching round lid is slightly domed, has very flat round knob handle supported on very thin stem, and is woven in same technique as basket; Designs on lid consist of concentric light blue, red, green, and pink bands on knob; Single row of diamonds between framing lines on wide shoulder of lid are similar in form and colors to designs on basket.
