Description | Tall round vase-shaped basket with flat base, mid-height maximum diameter, wide tapered shoulder, and very short vertical neck, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and consist of small solid black circular area in center of base, three bands of four standing human figures each (2 below shoulder and 1 above shoulder), and a band of what appear to be 4 pitchers with handles (?) on upper shoulder; Final rim coil is woven entirely of black devil's claw in a false braid stitch. | |
