Description | Large round shallow tray with flat base and low slightly flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is bear grass stems and primary weft material is sun bleached split yucca leaves; Designs are woven of black split devil's claw pods and consist of two large snakes and an eagle (?) with outstretched wings and extended talons, all located on the tray's base; Eyes of the snakes and the eagle are woven of yucca in an overstitch technique; Rim is finished with a diagonal overstitch row of black devil's claw fibers; Small suspension loop woven into exterior of basket atop eagle's head is coil-wrapped with devil's claw fibers. | |
