Description | Deep, round basket (known as a wallet) with flat base and vertical sides; Basket is woven in open plain twining over parallel warps; Warp and weft material is rye grass stems; Warp rods are braided together at rim to form final row and then incorporated into very heavy braided coil; Designs on side of basket are woven of worsted wool yarn in false embroidery technique, and consist of three bands of diamond shapes alternating with 3 bands of rectangles, all in colors of red, black, and dark and light blue. | |
