Description Round barrel-shaped basket with convex base and rounded sides, with corresponding round lid with low sides, flat brim, and central raised, flat-topped knob handle; Base of basket is woven in alternating bands of plain twining and bands wherein each row alternates between plain twining and simple plaiting; Single row of 3-strand twining forms junction of base and sides; Sides of basket are woven in plain twining, except for final 2.5 cm which are woven in simple plaiting; Lid is woven entirely in plain twining, except for 3 rows of 3-strand twining along outer edges of brim; Designs are woven of dyed spruce roots, undyed and dyed bear grass leaves, and maidenhair fern stems in several techniques, including 3 concentric bands (1 red and blue, 1 red, and 1 blue) woven of dyed red and blue spruce roots and woven in simple plaiting or combination of plain twining and simple plaiting on base; Rectilinear meander pattern in false embroidery technique with alternating units in dyed orange bear grass and black maidenhair fern stems encircles mid-section of basket, flanked above and below by band of angular "Z" shapes woven in false embroidery technique on dark blue plain twined background, edged in red; 2.5 cm wide band below rim alternates blue simple plaited rows with red plain twined rows; Designs on lid are similar in colors, materials, and weaving techniques.
