Description Round basket with flat base and deep vertical sides, woven entirely in plain twining technique, except single row of 3-strand twining along junction of base and sides; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven of dyed spruce roots and undyed bear grass leaves in plain twining and imbrication techniques, respectively; Designs on base consist of 3 concentric bands (2 blue and 1 red) woven of dyed spruce roots; Designs on sides consist of 3 bands, each comprising alternating narrow red and blue-black bands, all woven of dyed spruce roots; Overlaying each of these dyed spruce root bands on the exterior and woven in a false embroidery technique is a continuous rectilinear meander design of undyed bear grass leaves (some areas of this design appear to have an orange tint, suggest they may have originally been dyed, but they are now too faded to ascertain this).
