Description | Small cylindrical basket with flat base and very slightly flaring sides; Base of basket is woven in alternate rows of simple plaiting and plain twining, while sides are woven in plain twining, except for the last two rows immediately below the rim, which are woven in 3-strand twining; Warp and weft material is cedar bark; Designs are woven of dyed black cedar bark and consist of 3 narrow parallel bands that encircle the upper sides of the basket; In each of the design bands, 1 of the 2 weft fibers is dyed black and the other is undyed natural brown; In the 3-strand twined rows below the rim, 1 of the 3 weft fibers is dyed black. | |
