Description | Deep round basket with flat base and nearly vertical sides, woven entirely in alternating rows of plain twining and simple plaiting; Warp rods are bent over at rim and bound into a bundle coil that is wrapped in a false braid; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven of dyed weft fibers that are used only in the plain twined rows; Designs consist of 3 adjacent purple bands on base, and two wider bands (3 black bands and 2 purple bands each) around sides of basket. | |
