Description | Deep basket with flat rectangular base and vertical sides that rise to a wide round mouth with slightly flaring rim; Base is woven in simple plaiting technique, using same-sized cedar bark splints for both the warp and weft; Sides are woven in spaced plain twining technique over diagonally crossed warps, using undyed cedar bark for the warp and dyed black cedar bark for the weft; A reinforcing bundle of cedar bark encircles the interior of the rim and is coil-wrapped with the dyed black weft fibers; Warp fibers are bent over at rim and woven in a diagonal stitch to bind them to the coiled bundle. | |
