Description Small round basket with flat base and deep slightly flaring sides, woven entirely in plain twining technique; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven of dyed spruce roots and of dyed bear grass leaves, in plain twining and false embroidery techniques, respectively; Designs consist of two parallel bands that encircle sides of basket; Lower band includes a black outlined trapezoid with one open side and enclosing a red T-shaped motif within it, all repeated 4 times alternating with bright green diagonal bars; All motifs are woven in false embroidery, using dyed bear grass leaves, and 2 of the trapezoid motifs are rotated 180 degrees; Lower green framing line and upper red framing line of band are woven of dyed spruce roots in plain twining technique; Upper band is mirror image of lower band in every detail; Additionally, single twined row at junction of base and sides is woven of dyed red spruce roots and final two rows of twining along rim are woven of red and green dyed spruce roots.
