Description | Rectangular basket with flat base and slightly flared vertical sides with twisted coil rim, woven in coiling technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is split cedar splints and primary weft material is cedar roots; Next to last coil is divided into two bundles which are individually coil wrapped and intertwined as they continue around rim of basket and are attached to rim at regular intervals; Designs on sides of basket are woven of natural (tan) bear grass and natural (red) and dyed (black) cherry bark in imbrication technique, and consist of single concentric terraced diamond on each end and two concentric terraced diamonds along each side. | |
