Description Very large and deep round basket with flat base and slightly flaring sides, woven primarily in plain twining technique, with 5 double rows of 3-strand twining on the lower sides and a triple row of 3-strand twining around the rim; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven in false embroidery technique, using undyed and probably dyed bear grass leaves as the weft; Designs consist of a single wide band around the upper sides of the basket, that is divided vertically into 3 parallel bands, of which the upper and lower ones are identical and contain negative diamonds, "X" motifs, and chevrons, with the "X's" filled in with dyed bear grass leaves (indeterminate color is now faded to dark brown) and the remaining area woven of undyed bear grass leaves; Narrower band between the upper and lower bands appears to have terraced zigzag pattern in at lest 2 colors (also faded to brown) and following contours of terraced triangles that are pendant from top and bottom of band and of the same color used to fill in the "X's" in the other bands.
