Description | Round basket with flat base, rounded sides and in-curved rim, woven entirely in single rod coiling technique, using closely spaced narrow weft fibers; Basket start is a very small round flat ivory disk with drilled holes around its perimeter; Warp and weft fibers are both split baleen strips; Corresponding round lid also has larger flat round ivory disk starter piece and is woven in similar technique to the basket; Lid is slightly rounded in cross-section, and has short lip on interior that fits inside mouth of basket; Both basket and lid are undecorated. | |
