Description | Flattened elongate rectangular spatula with both ends coming to short point; Upper face is carved in low relief with repeating geometric motif on fish scale pattern background; The end is dipped into sake or millet beer and the liquid is sprinkled to the four corners to ritually offer prayer to the gods and spirits; The stick is then held under the nose by men when they drink the wine or beer, holding up their mustaches. | |
