Description Small olla-shaped jar with flat, narrow diameter base, flaring sides, high shoulder and short wide neck, and wide mouth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and slipped white, except for wide band around interior rim and underbody which are slipped orange; Exterior design field is divided into 3 encircling bands which are subdivided into rectangular panels; Panels are alternately decorated with diagonal lines or with paired triangular spirals, all in black-on-white fine line technique; Heavy black line encircles lip of jar; "Acoma" is painted on base in black lettering (that matches lettering on other Lucy Lewis pieces) but jar is otherwise unsigned. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. She is the mother of Anne Lewis Hansen and the mother-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery
