Description | Handheld hoop drum consisting of a defleshed piece of skin stretched over a wooden slat hoop and nailed along edges; Skin is cut with four small loops along its edges which are lashed together across back of drum by means of two leather laces which are knotted together in the center; Painted image of bear in full frontal, seated position dominates the face of the drum, while a head of a second bear with outstretched forelimbs is depicted along the bottom edge of the drum, all in black, brown, and blue-gray. | |
