Description Effigy basket in the form of a turkey, whose hollow, oval body has a flat base and rounded sides that curve inward toward the rim; Corresponding oval lid is slightly rounded and has interior lip that fits inside basket's mouth; Both basket and lid are woven in open coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is pine needles and primary weft material is undyed raffia grass leaves; Turkey’s neck and head are fashioned from pine needle bundle that is coil-wrapped; Eyes are woven of dyed black raffia leaves; Tail is fashioned from lengths of raffia leaves that are looped through coils and extend out as fringe; Body is supported on pine needle bundle secured to underside, whose two ends are bent down to form the legs and the ends splayed to form 4 toes each, and all are coil-wrapped and secured to an oval coiled base.
