Description Small round plate with shallow, upward curving and flaring sides; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth and slipped white; Design on the interior consists of center rectangular motif comprising spiral of solid and terraced triangles within negative, asymmetrical 4-point star; Surrounding off-center and asymmetrical quadrants are painted either with hatch-lined and solid triangles or with a single hatch-lined triangle; Signature "Lucy M. Lewis, Acoma, NM" is printed in black lettering on underside. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. She is the mother of Anne Lewis Hansen and the mother-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery
