Description Small round plate with rounded base and flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and covered with brilliant white slip; Elaborate geometric design on interior consists of center rectangle and one triangle in each quadrant that are painted in fine-line technique of a continuous spiral; Remaining spaces are filled with opposing black and white triangles, forming an overall cross-like pattern; Signature "Lucy M. Lewis, Acoma, NM" is printed in black lettering on underside. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. She is the mother of Anne Lewis Hansen and the mother-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery
