Description | Round water jar with narrow concave base, flaring sides and greatly expanded midsection, very high shoulder, and short neck with wide mouth and inward sloping rim; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth; Interior and lower body on exterior are covered with reddish orange slip; Upper body on exterior is covered with white slip; Painted designs in black and red on upper body of exterior include a band of diamond shapes around lower body; Above this band a large hourglass motif made of feather designs is repeated 4 times, alternating with a floral motif that is also repeated 4 times; Band of geometric motifs encircles neck; Jar is unsigned. | |
