Description | Very large jar with flat narrow diameter base; Sides on lower body flare outward to a midlevel terraced shoulder, then rise upward forming tall, wide, constricted neck with outward curving rim with scalloped edge; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth; Upper 5 cm of interior of neck and entire exterior (with exception of base) are highly burnished, but otherwise undecorated; Jar is reduction fired to glossy black color; Signature "Marie + Julian" is incised in script on base. | |
