| Description | Round jar with flat base and flaring sides that curve upward to a high, well defined shoulder; Short neck curves inward to wide mouth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and exterior is polished; Wide design band extending from mid-shoulder level to lower body consists of Nampeyo family design known as "Migration Design" comprising stylized bird wingtip motifs that are decorated in black fine line cross-hatching; Intervening spaces are filled with red triangles; Heavy black framing lines outline top and bottom of overall design band; Signature "Nampeyo Fannie" (painted in black block letters on base) indicates jar was made by Nampeyo and painted by her daughter, Fannie. | |
