Description | Effigy bowl in form of a bird; Base is flat and sides flare out and are shaped to contours of spread wings and a short extended tail with a wide, U-shaped notch at its end; Modeled bird's head rises well above rim and tapers to a blunt beak; Single wide linear groove is located on each wing and on tail; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth and well burnished; Bird's eyes are incised; Bowl is reduction fired to black color; Bowl is unsigned. | |
