| Description | Round bowl with wide flat base and vertical sides; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and burnished to a lustrous finish and fired to a black color; Signature "Marie + Santana" is incised in script on base. Santana Martinez is the wife of Adam Martinez and the daughter-in-law of Maria and Julian Martinez, all of whose pottery is represented in the CAS pottery collection; Santana Martinez is the sister of Awa Tsireh, whose paintings are represented in the CAS painting collection. | |
