Description | Small ashtray carved from single piece of red stone in the form of a turtle; Round shell of turtle forms the bowl of the ashtray, supported on four short extended feet and tail; Turtle's head projects outward from front edge of shell; Deep grooves are carved into surfaces of each of the turtle's feet and mouth; Eyes and geometric design around perimeter of turtle's "shell" are very lightly incised; Shallow U-shaped groove for resting cigarette is carved along edge of ashtray’s bowl by tail. | |
