Description | Round bowl with flat base and rounded sides that curve inward at rim; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Interior of rim and entire exterior are covered with red slip; Background of band around upper sides of exterior is carved away, leaving raised image of "Avanyu" or feathered serpent; Carved area is covered with pink-colored slip, while remaining exterior, including serpent image, is highly burnished; Signature "Rose" is incised in script on base. | |
