Description | Round bowl with flat base, flaring lower sides, and inward sloping upper sides; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Rim and entire exterior are coated with red slip are highly burnished, except for base; Band of contiguous triangles, painted alternately gray and tan and outlined in white, encircles upper sides of bowl; Signature "Petra" is written in pencil on base. Petra Gutierrez is the mother of Minnie Vigil and Lois Gutierrez de la Cruz, and the mother-in-law of Derek de la Cruz, all of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery collection. | |
