Description Candle holder (companion piece to CAS 0370-0387) for 3 candles in form of rectangular block that rises in series of 3 terraces from one end; Arched cutout on base leaves candle holder supported at either end; Sides of holder are perfectly vertical and are highly burnished; Deep cylindrical depression for holding candle is carved into surface of each terrace; Candle holder is reduction fired to a glossy black color; Signature "Teresita Naranjo, Santa Clara Pueblo, Rt. 1 Box 436, Espanola, N. Mex." is incised in script on base. Teresita Naranjo was the daughter of Christina Naranjo, the sister of Mary Cain and Mida Tafoya, and the mother of Stella Naranjo Chavarria, and the niece of Margaret Tafoya, all of whose works are represented in the CAS pottery collection.
