Description | Large, flat rectangular storage bag woven in 2-strand plain twining technique; Warp material is hop twine; Weft material around base and mouth of bag is hemp, while hop twine is used as the weft over the remainder body; Sides taper inward slightly toward the mouth; Canvas strip attached at bottom to which metal rings have been attached with thread; Wide hide band is laced through rings; Designs are woven of wool yarn in a false embroidery technique, against a background of undyed corn husk, and consist of 6 rows of green hourglass figures on red rectangles on the front face of the bag, and 4 rows of diamonds and half diamonds in green, blue, red, orange, and turquoise on the reverse face. | |
