Description 3-dimensional ivory carving of a polar bear shown standing on all four feet with head raised and holding killed seal (carved of bone) in its mouth; Bear's eyes are painted and its nose is inset with black jet; Bear is glued to base made from asymmetrical piece of bone, probably intended to represent an ice floe; Underside of base is sawed to form flat surface; Artist's signature is incised on base in Eskimo script.
