Description | Flat, rectangular clay tile made in mold; One face is scraped very smooth and painted with image of Wakas (Cow Katsina), shown from waist up and wearing double bandoliers and holding spruce boughs in each outstretched hand; Round mask is painted with large crescent shape covering left and right sides with hourglass shape down the center, topped with pair of stylized horns; Image is painted in reddish brown on white background and framed on all four sides by pair of narrow parallel black lines; Small holes are perforated at the top and bottom edges of the tile; Tile is unsigned. | |
