Description | Small oval-shaped bowl with flat pedestal base and flaring sides in the form of a bird; Small head of bird is modeled along rim at one end of bowl, while opposite rim is cut away to suggest bird's tail; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth; Exterior base is covered with red slip, while remaining exterior and interior surfaces are covered with cream-colored slip; Solid black line outlines rim; Black zigzag line is pendant from rim on interior and band of black triangles is pendant from rim on exterior; Large geometric motif fills interior of bowl and bird's facial features are painted in black; Bowl is unsigned. | |
