Description | Partially completed rug on loom, woven entirely in plain tapestry weave; Loom includes web beam (lower dowel) and warp beam (upper dowel), heddle rod, and shed rod; Borderless design consists of orange and white bands alternating with black (or gray) and white bands; Within each band, the weaver has changed the color of the weft after each horizontal pass, so that the same colored wefts always go over and under the same warps (whether going from left to right or right to left), with the result that each horizontal band also contains alternating white and orange (or white and black) vertical stripes; End cords are orange; Rug is woven without selvage cords. | |
