Description Round basket with flat base and rounded sides that taper in at rim; Coiled on 3-rod foundation; Designs in dyed bulrush include 9-point star with terraced outline on base and 3 diagonal motifs on sides comprising a diagonal checkered band flanked by solid triangles and rectangles; Space between motifs is filled with red woodpecker feathers and rim is outlined in quail top knot feathers. [In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay identified this design as the “flint” design. She also attributed this basket to the Mission Lakeport area, and thought it was probably woven by the same person who wove CAS 0370-0761.]
