Description | Compote-like dish consisting of shallow round tray with flat base and flaring sides, supported on short, cylindrical pedestal with its own flaring base, all woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is bear grass stems and primary weft material is sun bleached split yucca leaves; Design on sides of shallow tray consists of 5 triangular motifs comprising parallel coils woven of black devil's claw pods and alternating with coils woven of natural colored yucca; Weft stitches around rim of tray alternates between devil's claw and yucca; Design on pedestal includes black band around outer rim and black band at junction of base and pedestal. | |
