Description Deep round basket with flat base, flaring lower sides, and vertical upper sides, woven in coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include solid black circular area in center of base, encircled by small, widely spaced diamonds; Two parallel bands of small rectangles that are stacked diagonally to form a very wide zigzag band encircles the sides of the basket; Individual rectangles making up the zigzag band are joined to the rectangle above or below it by narrow black lines, and also to the one across from it by wider black lines, resulting in a complex pattern of both horizontally and diagonally stacked elongated negative rectangles; Final rim coil is decorated with an overstitch of black devil's claw.
