Description | Deep round basket with flat base and sides that flare outward and rise to a high shoulder, then curve inward forming a wide mouth; Basket is woven in coiled technique over small bundle coils; Warp fibers are galleta grass stems and weft fibers are finely split natural and vegetal dyed yucca leaves; Design consist of 3 bands; Upper and lower bands contain 7 and 6 terraced triangles, respectively, alternating in yellow and rust brown colors (one triangle in upper band is half yellow and half rust brown, to balance design) and each is outlined along terraced edges in black; Design around mid-section consists of black terraced zigzag line, with a terraced concentric yellow and rust brown triangle with black pendant lines (representing falling rain) filling every other triangular space below the line, all on a natural sun bleached background and bordered above and below by a solid black framing line. | |
