| Description |
Carved figure of Ewiro (Warrior Katsina) from Third Mesa, who acts as a guard during Powamu and Pachavu ceremonies; Figure wears a full case mask that is divided diagonally --- half painted black with white crosses and half white with black crosses; Red tab ears are attached at sides of head and long black beard hangs in front; Body is painted white with arms and legs alternating colors and designs as shown on mask; Figure dressed in buckskin shirt, cotton cloth kilt with yarn embroidery, leather armbands and cuffs on moccasins, yarn wristlets and garters, and 2 large round disks at his waist; He carries yucca whips in hands and is standing on right foot (mounted on large cross-section of cottonwood) with left arm and leg raised up. |
