Description | Flat round mat for use as a hot pad or trivet, woven entirely in plain twining technique; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Background designs are woven in plain twining, using dyed spruce roots as the weft, and they comprise a round red area in center of mat, encircled by a pair of black and a pair of red concentric bands near the center and then by another pair of black bands and a single red band around the rim; Overlaying the space between each half of the paired bands and also around the rim is a double row of undyed bear grass leaves woven in false embroidery technique. | |
