Description | Round plaque with flat center base and widely flaring sides; Basket is woven entirely in wicker technique over multiple warps; Warp material is common dune broom stems and weft material is natural and dyed rabbitbrush stems; At the rim, one warp from each warp group is bend over and incorporated into coil that is wrapped with yucca leaves; Design shows full figure of Palhik' Mana (?) katsina with orange face, white robe with black edges, green moccasins, and large red, green, and black tableta, all on natural colored background; Back of katsina’s head shows broad orange band down center, flanked by wide green band on each side; Narrow band around rim shows alternate black of red and green, edged in black. | |
