Description | Round burden basket with flat base and flaring sides; Woven primarily in spaced, 3-strand twining with band of close 2-strand twining (doubled wefts over paired and tripled warps) just below rim; Rim terminus is secured with several loops of cotton twine; No design. [In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay identified this as a work basket for carrying acorns, herbs or other foodstuffs. She also attributed it to the Lake County area, possibly Stewart Point.] | |
