Description | Round sifter or parching basket with rounded base and curved, flaring sides; Woven primarily in lattice twining with 3-strand twining on base and plain twining (on paired warps) below rim; Reinforcing rod at rim is wrapped; 2 design bands (1 plain and 1 of rectangles) on sides are in split redbud in lattice twining; Dashed band frames rim; Rim wrapping alternates dark and light blocks. [In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay identified this as a serving tray and attributed it to the Lake County area.] | |
